Provided the surface is clean and sound, and sanded to remove gloss, Porter’s Eggshell Finish is self-priming and can be applied directly over previously painted surfaces.
On new bare paper-faced plasterboard, apply one coat of Porter’s Limeproof Undercoat Sealer. Primer is optional on bare masonry, brick or fibre cement, but if not using an undercoat, apply an extra coat of paint.

Any varnished surfaces, or those previously applied with oil-based enamel paint should be prepared with Porter’s Universal Primer.
